Hammer rail

Hammers come to rest on the hammer rail after having been deployed. The hammers are positioned 2mm from the felt. Hammer rails often become moth-eaten or packed down, or even come unscrewed. Bad or damaged felt means there can be a noise as the hammer goes back into position.
