Keyboard balance mortises

The balance mortises of a piano’s keyboard ensure the piano keys only move vertically. Keyboard balance mortises are made of “casimir” felt, woven with silk. Their thickness is in proportion to pin/felt/mortise. There should not be any lateral movement. The movement of the key should not be impeded. There should be nothing inside them: only felt!
